Senior living in Annapolis is entering an exciting new chapter. Since breaking ground in October 2025, construction at The Village at Providence Point has continued moving forward, bringing years of planning and vision steadily into reality.
What was once a long-anticipated idea is now an active construction site along Forest Drive and Spa Road, where visible progress is reshaping approximately 52.5 acres into what will become Annapolis’ premier Life Plan Community. With infrastructure work underway and momentum continuing to build, the future community is no longer conceptual. It is actively taking shape.
Annapolis already offers a remarkable quality of life. Known as America’s sailing capital and home to the U.S. Naval Academy, the city blends history, culture, waterfront beauty, and community in a way few places can. The Village at Providence Point is being designed to complement and elevate that lifestyle experience for older adults seeking a more intentional approach to retirement living.
Projected to welcome its first residents in 2028, Phase 1 of the community will include:
Apartment and cottage homes will range from 880 to 2,300 square feet (including combination apartments), offering a wide selection of thoughtfully designed floor plans in a city with a reputation as a desirable place to retire and live well.
This community also represents a significant investment in Annapolis. Construction will generate the equivalent of approximately 200 full-time positions. Once open, The Village at Providence Point is expected to be home to roughly 500 residents of Annapolis xand retired transplants, supporting businesses and contributing to the city's vitality.
The October 7 groundbreaking ceremony brought together community officials, local business and government leaders, project partners, and future residents, many of whom had followed the project’s journey for years. While the ceremony marked a symbolic turning point, the months since have reflected something even more meaningful: continued progress.
Today, construction activity on-site reflects the momentum behind the project and the commitment of the many teams helping bring this vision to life. From early site development to ongoing infrastructure and environmental work, each phase continues moving the community closer to welcoming residents in the years ahead.
The community continues taking shape
With construction actively underway, The Village at Providence Point continues progressing from vision to reality. Environmental stewardship remains central to the project, with features including approximately 62,000 square feet of green roofs, more than 79 rain gardens, over 15,000 square feet of porous pavement driveways, and approximately 124 acres dedicated to permanent preservation and reforestation efforts.
